On the Board: Crosswalk Installation at Site of Hit and Run Death Delayed

Board of Selectmen voted to delay the installation of a crosswalk, asking for further communication.

MILFORD, MA—Putting a crosswalk at the site of a fatal accident has been put on hold, per the Milford Board of Selectmen.

The delay is based on further communication with the bank that requested the crosswalk, though Milford Police Chief Thomas O'Loughlin and Highway Surveyor Scott Crisafulli both recommended the crosswalk, which would be at the intersection of South Bow and Main Streets, reports the Milford Daily News. While the bank's president and CEO requested the crosswalk, as well, it hadn't been made available to selectmen yet.

Barbara "Sarge" Clement, a Milford town constable, was killed in September in a hit and run accident. Police said a tractor-trailer struck Clement near Milford Federal Savings and Loan. The driver fled the scene, prompting police to ask the public to help find the vehicle. The driver, who has not been identified, later turned himself in.
