Gerald Hennessy is retiring from the Board of Health and did not seek re-election.
MILFORD, MA — Gerald Hennessy was honored for his service to Milford with citations from the Board of Selectmen and Milford's legislative delegation at Monday night's meeting. Hennessy, 80, was voted into the Board of Health in 1971. He decided not to run for re-election in last months election and instead retire.
The Selectmen and legislators highlighted Hennessy's commitment to Milford, both as a Board of Health member and as a firefighter for 39 years and a member of the Retirement Board for 25 years. "You’ve always, always been an outstanding gentleman," said Selectman Michael Walsh.
State Rep. Brian Murray, D-Milford, and a representative from state Sen. Ryan Fattman’s office presented citations as well. Murray highlighted initiatives that were pushed under Hennessy's time on the board including raising the legal age for tobacco products from 18 to 21, which took place in 2016.
