Three Downtown Buildings In Milford To Get Facelift

The downtown façade program aims to upgrade the building exteriors on Milford's Main Street.

MILFORD, MA — Three building along Main Street in downtown Milford will get upgrades to their façades. The Board of Selectmen signed off on two applications for three buildings at their Monday night meeting. The upgrades will be funded through the Downtown Revitalization Committee's façade improvement program.

One of the buildings getting a facelift is at 89 Main Street. The project would replace the old awning with 73 linear feet of new Sunbrella fabric awning along with side curtains and poles. In total the project will cost $26,675, according to the application but Town Administrator Richard Villani said the program will pay for about $20,000.

The historic Grant building at 208 Main Street is the second applicant chosen. The building will get custom made tenant signs along with lodge and globe style lights. The total cost of the project will be $31,350, according to the application.

The last approved applicant was a building at 164 Main St. The project entails painting, power-washing, a new lighting frame and a deep clean of the awning. Altogether the project will cost $10,537, according to the application.

Property owners on Main Street and surrounding streets can apply for the façade program. The program covers 75 percent of the cost for improvements. The state has already agreed to pay $150,000 for the project. all work using state funds must be completed by July 31, per state mandate.
