Milton residents Jamie and Monica Mammano helped the VNA of Boston raise more than more than $200,000 at its Heroes in Health Care Gala held October 12. Monica served on the Gala Host Committee and Jamie, owner of the Columbus Group of restaurants, donated a hugely successful auction package including a night on the town with dinner courses at Mistral, Sorellino, and Moo along with a stay at the Beacon XV.
The VNA of Boston honored three community leaders as Heroes for their work to make transformational changes in the community:
- Sandra L. Fenwick, President & COO, Boston Children’s Hospital
- Ronald L. Walker, II, President & Founding Partner, Next Street
- Susan R. Windham-Bannister, PhD, President & CEO, Massachusetts Life Sciences Center
Proceeds from the event support the organization's Maternal Child Health and Free Care Programs. The Maternal Child Health Program, one of the largest in the region, provides direct care and specialized support services with 7,000 visits supporting nearly 2,500 children and their families each year and nearly 500 patients have access to home health care services with the Free Care Program. Funds raised help the VNA of Boston fulfill its commitment to the most vulnerable, socially at-risk, chronically ill, and disabled children, young parents and families, and seniors.
