Forbes House Museum Goes Back in Time
Over 135 people attended a nearly-historical reenactment of Royal Governor Thomas Hutchinson's 1774 departure from Milton on Sunday afternoon.
A stretch of Adams Street and flashed back to 1774 on Sunday, September 25, as part of a fundraiser for the .
Richard and Jane Howe took on the personas of Governor Thomas Hutchinson and his wife Peggy for a tongue-in-cheek reenactment of the last Royal Governor of Massachusetts’ departure from Milton.
The reenactment began with a fife and drum procession from the Forbes House to , where over 135 patrons waited to bid Hutchinson farewell.

After mingling with Milton neighbors, the faux governor gave a less-than-historically-accurate speech.
“Governor Hutchinson's remarks were irreverent and spanned several centuries including multiple references to Patriots (Hutchinson's detractors) and the Patriots (the football team) which were very witty,” said Mary Riffe Hiss, a Forbes House Museum Trustee.

After his address, Hutchinson was escorted to a waiting vessel, which was said to transport time back to England, per the orders of King George.
