Police Investigate East Milton Bank Robbery

The Sovereign Bank in East Milton was robbed on Monday morning.

The and the FBI are currently investigating a bank robbery that occurred just before noon on Monday, July 23, at the branch in East Milton.

According to Sgt. Daniel Brown, a white male in his mid-20s entered the bank at 11:52 a.m. and passed a note to a teller. The wording on the note was not available.

The suspect then fled the scene, possibly in a silver, four-door sedan, down Mechanic Street with an undisclosed amount of cash.

“It’s a fresh investigation,” said Brown approximately an hour after the incident. “We have detectives working it now.”

As is protocol, the FBI has joined the investigation into the robbery.

According to the report, the suspect is of average height and weight. He was wearing a black, Adidas hooded sweatshirt, grey pants, a black hat with a green brim and aviator sunglasses. It appears the suspect did not speak during the robbery, but just passed the note.

The same Sovereign Bank was robbed in September of 2010.
