Attention Expectant Moms!

Childbirth Through a Jewish Lens is a unique three-session course designed for expectant moms and their support persons.

The process of creating life and birthing is amazing, and overwhelming. Childbirth Through a Jewish Lens, a joint project of Temple Israel of Boston and Hebrew College, is a new 3-session class that is appropriate for both first-time and experienced parents. It is also the perfect complement to another birthing class.
In this 3-session course, parents will have the opportunity to learn with Rabbi Elaine Zecher of Temple Israel Boston about welcoming a baby into the Jewish community. Topics will include naming ceremonies, the bris, special blessings, and other Jewish customs. Certified nurse-mid-wife (CNM) Sarah Kleinman will cover the stages and physiology of labor, preparing for and coping with labor, and dealing with unknowns. Dinner will be included at all three sessions.
Sarah Kleinman, CNM says, “I love the opportunity to support women through a potentially unpredictable experience by listening to them and honoring their labor choices. Women and their partners will gain a strong sense of community and begin to cultivate a deeper understanding of the incredible, life changing event of childbirth.”
Classes will be held from 6-9:15 pm at Temple Israel Boston, 477 Longwood Ave., Boston. Free-validated parking is available at 375 Longwood Ave. (next to the Temple).

Registration is $225 for 1 expectant mom and 1 support person. To register, visit www.hebrewcollege.edu/childbirth
