DEA Agents Tell Tales of Drug Kingpin Demise

The inspirations for the Netflix program NARCOS at Mount Ida College

Steven Murphy and Javier Pena (pictured), the DEA agents who inspired the Golden Globe-nominated Netflix series NARCOS, were on the Mount Ida Campus on Nov. 30, talking about bringing down the infamous Colombian drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar.

They raised eyebrows of many of the criminal justice students in the packed audience talking about what the quest was like to end Escobar's reign as one of the world’s most dangerous individuals.

In the end Escobar was killed by Colombian law enforcement and Murphy and Pena say, despite being hailed as heroes, that distinction belongs to the people of Colombia.
