“DOWNSIZING MADE EASY”

Course is designed to ease stress associated with moving (or if you're thinking about it)

NEWTON, Mass., Oct. 5, 2017 – Moving, whether it’s to a high rise condo or to a smaller home, can be incredibly draining—emotionally and physically. In fact, according to the Holmes and Rahe stress scale, “a change in living conditions” ranks 25 out of 43 stressful life events. But help is on the way.

“Downsizing Made Easy” will provide practical guidance in preparing for such a big life change – even if moving is a far off fantasy. The class is designed to help empty nesters, seniors and other homeowners simplify a move by providing advice on facing the complex transactional process of leaving the cherished family homestead. It will take place on Monday, Oct. 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Newton North High School.

“Downsizing Made Easy” provides answers to questions such as, “Do I sell my home first? Then decide where to move?” (Or the other way around?) “Can I afford condo fees?” “Should I stay put and rent out my kid’s room?” “Move to a retirement community?” and most importantly, “Where do I start?” The course also educates the community about financial considerations and the nut and bolts of downsizing, so that attendees can make the most informed decision – when, and if the time comes.
