The Fessenden School Welcomes Dr. Anthony Rao to Speak on “Raising Boys in the Digital Age”
Dr. Rao's presentation, "Raising Boys in the Digital Age" will provide insights on when technology can be helpful and when it can be harmful
The Fessenden School, an independent school for boys from Pre-Kindergarten through grade 9, will host an event with Dr. Anthony Rao, a nationally known author and expert in child psychology. “Raising Boys in the Digital Age” is a presentation for parents concerned about helping their son navigate the tricky waters of the digital world. Parents of boys from toddler to teenager should come hear Dr. Rao’s upbeat and candid discussion on what works best for boys learning and development, at home and in school.The event will take place on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 7:00PM in the Performing Arts Center at the Fessenden School, 250 Waltham Street, West Newton, Mass. “Raising Boys in the Digital Age” is for parents who want to learn strategies to reduce anxiety, be in control and get on top of their parenting game in today’s internet-enabled world. Dr. Rao will help parents understand how screen time and technology use are impacting them and their sons. Attendees will learn how new classroom spaces and novel teaching and parenting approaches can foster critical thinking, problem solving, executive function skills and a passion for learning as early as pre-K.
Parents will leave Dr. Rao’s lecture with actionable strategies on how to protect their sons from the negative aspects of our digital world and leverage what really works with boys Dr. Rao’s advice will help attendees embrace parenting with a decreased sense of anxiety and renewed enthusiasm for helping their sons discover the excitement of learning.

Dr. Anthony Rao is a nationally-known expert in child psychology, appearing regularly on TV news programs and in magazines. He founded a pediatric psychology practice in Massachusetts, and consults with families all over the country. In addition, Dr. Rao has lectured at numerous colleges, conferences and parenting groups and conducts workshops for professionals who work with children.
