Forum on the Impact of Drugs on the Adolescent Mind to Be Held May 4
Parents are invited to attend "Drugs and the Developing Teen Brain" at Newton South High School on Wednesday.
NEWTON, MA - Newton South will host a discussion on the risks of substance abuse as a teenager's brain develops on Wed., May 4.
Susan Swick, Chief of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Nicole Danforth, Director of Outpatient Programs, both of Newton-Wellesley Hospital, will speak about the changing adolescent mind and the particular risk of substance abuse during this time.
Swick and Danforth will also touch on the facts and myths surrounding marijuana, opiates and other drugs, as well as provide advice for having a frank talk about the dangers of substance abuse with teens.
The forum will be held Wed., May 4 at 6 p.m. in the Newton South auditorium.
