Wednesdayâs storms dumped a ton of rain on the area and if you think it was more than you saw in a while -- youâre right. Records were set across the state for the most rainfall in a one day period,according to the National Weather Service.
- Boston, as of 6:31 p.m. Wednesday had 2.46 inches of rain on Wednesday, breaking the previous record of 1.26 inches back in 1899.
- Worcester saw 2.39 inches on Wednesday. The previous record was 2.17 inches in 1946.
- Providence, RI had 2.02 inches Wednesday beating the previous record of 0.95 in 1946.
Just how much rain fell in Newton?
According to the National Weather Service, while numbers for Newton were not specifically reported, nearby Framingham saw 4:62 inches by 7:01 p.m. on Wednesday. Wayland had 4:12 inches by 4:28 p.m.
