Newton Holds Public Hearing on Zoning Ordinance Reform
Residents are urged to attend a public hearing with the Zoning and Planning Committee.

A Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 7:45 p.m., Second Floor of the Newton City Hall before the Zoning and Planning Committee and the Planning and Development Board.
The purpose is to hear a petition that Chapter 30 be deleted in its entirety and replaced with a new Chapter 30 zoning language.
âPhase 1 reorganizes and reformats Chapter 30, makes stylistic changes in language, adds explanatory diagrams, clarifies previously confusing or conflicting language throughout the ordinance, removes redundant language, adds new definitions, deletes some definitions, including, among others, the definitions of âcommon roof connectorâ and âcommon wall connector,â amends some definitions, including, among others, the definition of âdwelling, two-family,â adds a use table, and makes substantive changes pertaining to administrative review of those accessory apartments that do not require special permits.â
