Newton to Install Barriers Outside of Fatal Crash Site
The barriers will be installed at the Sweet Tomatoes in West Newton later this summer.

Newton, MA – The city will install barriers outside of a West Newton restaurant where a car crash killed two customers and left seven patrons and employees injured earlier this year.
Stephanie Foner, director of Community Engagement in the mayor's office, said in an email that approximately 12 protective barriers are planned for the Sweet Tomatoes on Washington Street. They are expected to be installed sometime in August.
Meanwhile, the restaurant plans to reopen this summer and could do so as soon as this month. Temporary barriers will be put into place before the city installs permanent ones, WBZ reported.
