Newton Mayor to Host Pan-Mass Riders Reception Wednesday
The 5th annual Pan-Mass Challenge Newton Riders Reception will celebrate 37 years of riding to raise money for cancer care and research.

Newton, MA â On Wednesday, Mayor Setti Warren will hold the 5th annual Pan-Mass Challenge Newton Riders Reception.
The mayor will be joined by Billy Starr, founder and executive director of the PMC, to raise awareness for the challenge and thank more than 170 riders who are Newton residents.
The Pan-Mass Challenge was founded in 1980 and is an annual bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other athletic fundraising event in the nation, according to a press release.

In 37 years, the PMC has raised $500 million for adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber through the Jimmy Fund.
The PMC will take place on Aug. 6 and 7; more than 6,000 cyclists will ride up to 192 miles with the goal of raising $46 million.
