Newton Teacher Accused Of Sexual Abuse After Student Tests Positive For STI: Report
The teacher was placed on leave when the accusations came out.
NEWTON, MA — A teacher at the Solomon Schechter Day School has been placed on leave after a student who has tested positive for a sexually-transmitted infection accused the teacher of inappropriate physical contact, according to a report from NBC 10 Boston.
The teacher, who has not been named but identified as a male, was reportedly placed on leave on Oct. 31, and the student was diagnosed with the STI not long before that. School leadership that included Head of School Rebecca Lurie, and the Board of Trustees’ President Eytan Shamash said in an email that abuse was determined to be very likely. They added that they immediately reported the situation to authorities and multiple investigations remain underway.
The teacher’s legal representation vehemently denied the accusations.
