NewTV Member Celebrates 20 Years of Production at B. J.’s Big Bash!

NewTV hosted a party for member B. J. Krintzman in honor of her show "That's the Law! With Attorney B. J. Krintzman" being on for 20 years.

On December 3, 2016 NewTV hosted a celebration of twenty years of That’s the Law! With Attorney B. J. Krintzman. B. J.’s family, friends, former show guests and members of the crew from over the years came together to honor the show’s longevity, which can be attributed to the enthusiasm of its host.

Guests enjoyed food and drinks before making their way into the studio and screening room to listen to remarks from various dignitaries. Representatives Ruth Balser and Kay Khan each said a few words and presented B. J. with a citation. Senator Cynthia Creem also spoke and gave B. J. a citation. NewTV’s Director of Member Services read citations on behalf of Sheriff Peter Koutoujian and Mayor Setti Warren. She also presented B. J. with a plaque and cake from NewTV.

After the citations were presented, attendees watched a documentary about B. J. and the history of That’s the Law!, produced by NewTV member Laura Johnson. They learned that B. J. joined NewTV when it was still Continental Cable Vision after seeing an ad in the Newton Tab looking for contestants on a trivia show. B. J. responded to the ad, not because she wanted to compete, but because she wanted to be the host. A few years later, she decided to pursue her dream of hosting a talk show.

Law Line, which eventually became That’s the Law! With Attorney B. J. Krintzman began in 1996. The show has hosted over 200 unique guests, including former Attorney General of Massachusetts Martha Coakley, former Mayor David B. Cohen and ABC News’ Dan Harris. Many guests return multiple times, such as accountant Thomas Astore. Production would not be possible without the volunteer crew. NewTV Executive Director Robert Kelly said, “B. J. and her crew deserved to be recognized for providing our viewers with 20 years worth of important programming.”
