According to Elizabeth Price, who serves as the Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom coordinator at Bedford VA, more than 300 runners and walkers participated in the AFA Fun Run in 2014, she is hoping they will see even more participants this year.

The 5K race is sponsored by the Air Force Association Paul Revere Chapter and all of the proceeds are donated to various Veterans groups or to fund other events.

There is a $20 entry fee to run the race, but Veterans can run and walk for free by showing proof of military service. The first 300 runners and walkers will receive an AFA Fun Run T-shirt. Runners can register online at the AFA’s web site.Trophies will be awarded during the closing ceremonies.

Runners may use the 5K race as an official qualifier for future races. The course begins at the parking at the Patriot Golf Course and circles around the campus.

Information and VA healthcare tables will be near the start of the course to make enrollment simple for Veterans who have not yet registered at VA .There will also be live music. “It’s really open to the entire community,” said Price, who is also a runner, “and it’s a great way for people to support our Veterans.”
