Tonight: Community Meeting on Burr Lead Levels
The meeting will be held to address families' concerns over high lead levels found in the majority of fountains at the school.

Newton, MA â Burr Elementary will hold a community meeting tonight to answer parents' questions regarding lead in the school's drinking water.
City, building, school and health officials will be on hand to address families' concerns following revelations earlier this month that five of the seven fountains at Burr were found to have higher-than-recommended lead levels.Â
In May, lead testing throughout the Newton school system revealed high lead levels in one fountain at Burr Elementary, prompting further testing at the school.

High lead levels were also detected in the pipes connecting to the fountains, according to a letter sent by Principal Mindy Johal to the Burr community.Â
In the aftermath of the findings, a coalition of parents called "Parents of Burr" sent a letter to city and school officials, demanding greater transparency in both the testing methods and how the elevated lead levels will be addressed going forward.
