WBUR Names Director of Community Engagement
Amy Macdonald will develop new partnerships and create live events for Boston's NPR audience

BOSTON, Mass.—October 14, 2015 – WBUR, Boston’s NPR news station, announced today that Amy Macdonald has been named director of community engagement. In her role at WBUR, Amy will work to develop new partnerships with Boston’s important cultural and civic institutions and create innovative, compelling in-person events.
“WBUR is not just committed to extraordinary radio, but also deeper civic engagement with in-person interaction. The station is already producing more live events than ever before - from our annual On Point Live to the intimate monthly conversation WBUR On Tap – but they are consistently selling out. That indicates a real thirst for the same kind of smart, thoughtful conversation you hear on WBUR, but presented in new, exciting and engaging ways,” said Charlie Kravetz. “Our vision is to explore how we can create experiences that are unlike anything that exists here today, and Amy has the right experience to help WBUR achieve that goal.”
Macdonald joins WBUR after serving as the producer of the Kennedy Library Forums at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. In that role, she generated ideas for forums covering an array of historical, literary, cultural, musical, scientific and artistic subjects. Prior to the JFK Library and Museum, Amy was a producer at the Mary Baker Eddy Library, producing forums with leading historians, biographers and anthropologists. She is returning to her roots, having previously worked at WBUR as a producer on The Connection, under the helm of Host Christopher Lydon.
