Weekend Crime Roundup: Stolen Six-Strings, Asleep At the Wheel

Crime log from Saturday, March 19 to Monday morning, March 21. All parties have been charged but not convicted.

Saturday, March 19

  • Edwin Giron, 32, of Clinton Street was arrested for allegedly violating his probation. The warrant was served for the receiving of stolen property worth more than $250, a stolen vehicle, assault and battery, and operating under the influence of liquor.
  • Police responded to a Berkeley Street residence after the homeowner claimed sometime in the past two weeks he had the copper drain pipe stolen from the side of his house.
  • A manager at the Music and Arts store on Beacon Street reported three guitars stolen between 4:30 and 5:30 Saturday afternoon. Two Fender guitars and one Eastman had been on display but were missing; the manager says she last saw them around 4:30.
  • Zhaner Kozhamzharova, 28, of Brighton was detained for attempting to steal various clothing, handbags and sunglasses, worth a total of $1373, from the Bloomingdale's on Boylston Street. Police arrested Ms. Kozhamzharova and charged her with larceny over $250. She was also issued a no trespassing order for all Bloomingdale's locations.

Sunday, March 20

  • Alvaro Segovia, a Montreal resident, was arrested at the Crown Plaza on Washington Street after police responded to a reported disturbance in the lobby involving staff. The 20-year-old refused to cooperate with police and was placed under arrest and charged with malicious damage to property over $250, assault and battery and resisting arrest.
  • A white Mazda 3 was reported stolen from the employee parking lot of Season 52 at 220 Boylston Street. The woman who owned the car showed up for her shift at the restaurant at 5:30 p.m. She noticed her car was stolen around 9 p.m. when her shift ended.

Monday, March 21

  • Ghashka K. Stcyr, 22, of Hyde Park was arrested Monday morning after police learned he was driving with a suspended license. Officers approached him at a red light, but when the light turned green his car didn't move. Police walked to the driver's side window and observed Stcyr asleep at the wheel with the engine running. After waking him up and asking him to roll down the window, police detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Stcyr was arrested charged with operating a vehicle after his registration had been revoked, uninsured operation and driving an unregistered motor vehicle. He was also issued a city ordinance violation for possession of marijuana.
