Lowe's Grocery and Meats; Big Store In A Small Package
Lowe's has one of the best meat selections in town.
Lowe’s Grocery and Meats may have only been at its current location for the last four years, but this establishment has been a Northborough staple since 1986. Owner Tom Lowe comes from a long line of business owners, including his grandparents who opened their first store in 1948. He has been very successful with the store for the past three decades and his level of dedication shows in both his attitude and business savvy.
Lowe’s moved to their current location for numerous reasons, such as a better layout and better parking. At 2400 square feet, it’s the perfect size for a compact grocery store that has just about everything a big store would have with comparable prices. But what is probably the best reason to shop here is their excellent meat section that had slabs of custom cut, choice USDA steak, chicken cutlets and a wide variety of deli meats. They also carry a full line of hot and cold ready to eat meals that looked absolutely delicious. On top of that, Lowe’s has a full line of groceries, fresh produce and vegetables that you would find in any large supermarket.
“We’re a full grocery store in a compact size,” Lowe said. “We have everything you need in 2400 square feet. People can get in and out of here in minutes, so it’s perfect for anyone looking for a quick stop. It’s also great for any elderly person who is looking for a full grocery store without having to walk around a huge area.”

As part of being a good business owner and a humanitarian, Lowe’s offers home delivery for people who are chronically sick, disabled or the elderly who can’t get out. On holidays, Lowe’s offers specialty meals like a pre-made Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings for those who don’t have the ability, money or desire to cook. Best of all, the prices are actually cheaper than the big box stores, making his store a great way to save money.
“Here, we come to know out customers by name,“ Lowe said. “Instead of being some faceless entity, we get to know what our customers want and deliver that to them. Customer service is so important in this line of business and we don’t want to take that for granted.”

Lowe’s also carries their own brand of spices, dessert toppings, prepared sandwiches, chilies, various types of sauces, fresh Italian bread, and premium coffee. The selection may not be as extensive as a large supermarket due to its size but most brands are represented fairly and anyone looking for a quick trip to a local store would be hard pressed to find a better place to go.
