For Grief's Sake

Event Details

33 Walpole St, Norwood, MA, 02062

Morrill Memorial Library is partnering with Claire Mauro to bring a unique workshop to Norwood. The workshop will combine the role of a caregiver and the writing process.

Program title: For Grief’s Sake

Date and Time: Monday, November 9, 2026 from 6:30PM - 8PM.

Location: Simoni Room

The workshop will cover reflections on the writing process alongside an overview of the caregiver role in a care partnership.  Ask yourself,

  • Are you struggling to find the time to write while caregiving?
  • Are you frustrated by the lack of project progress?
  • Are you experiencing doubts and second-guessing yourself as a caregiver and a writer?
  • Are you negotiating for your own voice in the collaborative processes?

Join Claire as she presents an overview of the caregiver role and collaborative writing process using her own experience of co-authorship in the writing and publication of her co-authored non-fiction work: For Grief’s Sake: The Resilient Caregiver Caring and Coping Well.

The workshop will include an overview of the book, structure, and use. Discussion will include sample reflection prompts. Please bring a notebook or journal with you if you would like to participate in the writing process.

Presenter Bio: Claire Mauro has 20 years’ experience in the eldercare industry as a counseling psychologist and group facilitator for caregivers in both residential and community groups. Her programs and presentations in a variety of eldercare settings have allowed her to develop respectful relationships with family and professional caregivers, observe their work, and hear their concerns. Her experience encompasses teaching, facilitating, and presenting at libraries, COAs, interest groups, and academic settings and professional conferences.

Claire holds degrees in psychology, counseling, and cultural production. She was a founder and regular contributor to wellness blog, The Parsley Way, and is coauthor with Diane Simoni of For Grief’s Sake : The Resilient Caregiver Caring and Coping Well, addressing the emotional life and well-being of caregivers and their care partners.

Her personal experience of caregiving at a distance led her to learn about the acute need for eldercare, to increase her compassion for care partners, and to create outreach programs for the caregiving community. She regularly posts a blog on her website, Instagram and LinkedIn
