Norwood Uber Driver Denies Claims That He Aimed Gun at Passenger

ATTLEBORO, MA — A Norwood Uber driver denies claims that he aimed a gun at a fare while on the side of Interstate 95 South.

Jacques J. Daaboul, 25, was arraigned Thursday in Attleboro District Court, where he pleaded not guilty to assault by means of a dangerous weapon, according to the Sun Chronicle.

The March 4 dispute took place at about 12:25 a.m. near the South Attleboro weigh station. The victim told police that Daaboul pointed a gun at him for smoking in the vehicle.

Joseph Cataldo of Franklin, Daaboul's attorney, said his client pulled to the side of the highway, told the two men and two women in his vehicle to get out because they were smoking marijuana. The four refused to get out.

Daaboul denied showing a weapon, but his attorney said his client made it known that he was armed.

Daaboul is free on personal recognizance and was ordered to stay away from the victim and not obtain any firearms during the case. He is scheduled to return to court June 30 for a pretrial conference.
