Today's Weather Forecast: Feet of Foam

The annual Norwood Foam Day event gave locals a chance at some good clean fun.

If the temperature were 50 degrees cooler, a scene like this probably would prompt a snow day.

Instead, Foam Day brought out kids of all ages to run, walk and swim through the white stuff Friday morning at Coakley Middle School.

Linda Berger, program director of the Norwood Recreation Department, said the annual tradition draws playcamp campers and the community members alike.

"Who doesn't love to see a fire truck?" Berger said. "The fact that they can run and play in the foam is even better."

With at least 150 kids at the event, many dove into the suds, appearing moments later looking like a Frosty the Snowman in July. Even the parents who inched away from the expanding foam couldn't help but walk through the white mess.

The fire truck not only was on hand to supply the foam, but the back of the vehicle served as a rinsing station as well.

If people couldn't make it to Foam Day, a second event — including a mud pit — will be held Aug. 19 at FM.
