Two Waking With Safe Charged, OUI, And More: Norwood Police Log

August 2

9:44 a.m. - A caller on Nahatan Street told police that his neighbor deliberately squirted him with a hose while doing yard work. An officer spoke to all parties and it was determined that the incident was an accident.

11:12 a.m. - A railroad track worker on Savin Avenue reported two men walking with a safe. One of the men, Matthew Bretti, 33, of Norwood, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering a building in the daytime for a felony, larceny from a building, and breaking into a depository. Bretti also had three active warrants.

6:21 p.m. - Multiple callers reported a truck operating erratically and at a high rate of speed. One caller stated that their vehicle was struck. The truck was located abandoned in the woods off of Access Road. The operator, identified as Scott Ivatts, 54, of Norwood, was located in the parking lot of the police station. He was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of property damage, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, attaching plates, operating with suspended registration, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
