Weekend Police Log: July 1-5

Friday, July 1:

8:30 a.m. - Caller on Robinwood Rd. reported a suspicious white van in the neighborhood. The occupant of the van told police he was spraying for mosquitos.

12:20 p.m. - Worker at the Citgo station on Broadway St. reported a person took off from the gas pumps without paying. Police responded to the incident.

Saturday, July 2:

4:13 a.m. - Caller reported someone breaking into the convent at St. Catherine's School on Nahatan St. Two males — Brendan McCarthy of 220 Nahatan St. and Robert Antonelli Jr. of 220 Nahatan St. — were placed under arrest and charged with breaking and entering and larceny over $250.

4:14 p.m. - Caller at Ocean State Job Lot on the Boston Providence Highway reported a male and child were walking through the store and the child was saying, "you aren't my father." Everything was in order when the police arrived.

6:29 p.m. - Caller on Dean St. reported people lighting off fireworks. The party involved was spoken to by police.

Sunday, July 3:

5:37 a.m. - An officer removed traffic cones from the middle of Pleasant and Dean streets.

11:51 a.m. - A group of people came into the Norwood Police Department and said the traffic lights on Neponset St. and Wedgewood Dr. were malfunctioning. Norwood Light was notified of the incident.

4:05 to 10:54 p.m. - About five reports of fireworks were passed along to police Sunday evening across town.

Monday, July 4:

5:55 a.m. - Resident on Sunset Ave. reported loud music in the area. Officers responded to the incident and the music was shut off.

4:15 p.m. - At least 25 Norwood Police Department employees assisted with the town's Fourth of July parade.

8:49 to 10:24 p.m. - About seven reports of fireworks were passed along to police Monday evening across town.

Tuesday, July 5

1:18 a.m. - Police moved a rug in the intersection of Nahatan and Prospect streets.
