Weekend Police Log: July 8-11

Friday, July 8:

12:32 p.m. - Caller at Oakview Reality on Guild St. reported he found two firearms in the basement. An officer recovered the weapons and will file a report.

4:40 p.m. - Caller on Cottage St. said her sister locked herself in the bathroom with money that belongs to her and won't return it. Officers responded to the incident.

5:52 p.m. - Police responded to the intersection of Chatham Rd. and Wilson St. after receiving reports of a solicitor asking for donations to the New Orleans Relief Fund. Although a search turned up negative, a black male, 6'3'' tall with a green and yellow sports jersey is the main suspect.

Saturday, July 9:

8:42 a.m. - Residents informed the Norwood Police Department at its main building that there was a hit and run accident in the parking lot of the McDonald's on Broadway St.

5:06 p.m. - Caller on Concord Ave. reported finding a handgun and requested to turn it in to the police.

Sunday, July 10:

12:15 a.m. - Caller at McDonald's on Everett St. reported the restaurant's doors were locked and it's been more than 20 minutes since she ordered in the drive-thru. The caller said she was concerned for the employee's well-being. Officers responded and it was discovered the restaurant staff was short-handed for the night.

11:03 a.m. - Caller at the intersection of Savin Ave. and Johnson Ct. reported a brown dog with a blue collar running loose. Animal control responded to the incident.

10:13 p.m - An officer checked the area near Willett School after hearing a report of fireworks. All was quiet.

Monday, July 11:

2:36 a.m. - Caller on Adams St. reported a strange man on a bicycle hanging out in front of mother's house. The mother was afraid as the man had been around several times during the night and just stares at the house. Police responded and advised to call again if the man returns.
