South Shore Conservatory Announces 2016/2017 Conservatory Concert Series Lineup

Featuring free faculty performances

South Shore Conservatory (SSC) announces a spectacular lineup of Conservatory Concert Series (CCS) faculty performances for the 2016/2017 season. Most concerts take place at SSC’s Hingham campus at One Conservatory Drive or Duxbury campus at 64 St. George Street.

CCS concerts showcase the varied talents of the Conservatory’s faculty of nearly 100 educator/performers. Admission to the concert is free, helping advance SSC’s mission of expanding access to arts education and performance.

The season kicks off on October 16 with SSC Debuts, featuring SSC’s newest faculty members in concert at the Hingham campus. CCS’s November performance, called Gypsy Caravan: The Fire and Passion of Hungarian Style, features the music of Liszt, Brahms and Ravel, all of whom succumbed to the guilty pleasure of writing in gypsy style. This performance is presented November 13 in Duxbury and November 20 in Hingham. This Hingham performance is sponsored by The Avis and Harold Goldstein Trust.

On December 11, the performance moves off campus to Derby Academy at 56 Burditt Street in Hingham, with Holiday Favorites. CCS celebrates Valentine’s Day with In Matters of Love on February 12 in Hingham. Each SSC vocalist will share his/her personal connection to the love song they’ve chosen to perform. The final concert of the series, Music of the Emerald Isle on March 12 in Duxbury and March 19 in Hingham, features the much loved music of Ireland – from Celtic roots to classical and contemporary.

Seating for each performance is limited. To guarantee seating, it is recommended that concertgoers arrive at least 30 minutes in advance. Following each performance, the audience is invited to stay, enjoy a bite to eat, and visit with the performers.
