New Proposal Aimed at Absentee Landlords
The legislation faces hearing in front of the ordinance and oversight committees.

QUINCY, MA — New penalties could be on the way for absent landlords who own property in Quincy.
The city council voted at a recent meeting to refer new proposed regulations aimed at the owners of rental proprieties, with penalties for those who neglect their land to the ordinance and oversight committees.
Councilor Brian Palmucci said the purpose of the legislation is to "crack down on absentee landlords, especially the ones who don't take care of their properties"

"Anyone who lives near one knows that it tends to drag down the quality of the neighborhood," he said.
An absentee landlord is defined in the proposed policy as someone who lived more than 45 miles away from Quincy and does not have a local designated person responsible for operating the property.
