2. Milton and Quincy Join Boston's West Nile High-Risk Zone as Massachusetts Confirms 12th Human Case of 2026 (medicaldaily.com) — Quincy has just been elevated to high risk for West Nile virus, meaning everyday fall routines like evening dog walks and practices now carry more mosquito danger. State health officials urge residents, especially older adults and those with chronic illnesses, to use repellents, wear long sleeves, and drain standing water. The risk is expected to continue until the first hard frost later this fall.

3. Quincy paramedics could soon perform blood transfusions (patriotledger.com) — Quincy paramedics may soon be able to give whole-blood transfusions before patients reach the hospital, thanks to a grant-funded Whole Blood Response Program. The Quincy Police–Brewster Ambulance partnership still needs state medical approval and a Boston Medical Center blood-bank commitment, but could eventually support all nine city ambulances and even assist nearby South Shore towns.

4. Press Release Massachusetts Delivers Specialized Training to Prepare Firefighters for Building Collapses and Major Emergencies (mass.gov) — Quincy firefighters are among those completing an intensive state Structural Collapse Rescue Technician course in Bridgewater, sharpening skills for building collapses and other complex emergencies.
