• 📊 Reading MCAS Scores Stay Far Above State Average but 2026 Brings a Slide (readingrecap.com) — Reading families can see how local MCAS scores stack up this year: the district still far outperforms state averages, but English results, especially in sixth grade and grade 10, slipped from recent highs. Math and science show brighter spots, and the state classifies Reading as not needing intervention, with more detailed school-by-school results and School Committee review coming this fall.
   

• Reading Residents to Participate in the 38th Annual Jimmy Fund Walk for Dana-Farber Presented by Hyundai (thereadingpost.com) — Reading residents will be out in force on Sunday, October 4, joining thousands for the Jimmy Fund Walk along the Boston Marathon route to support Dana-Farber's cancer research and care. Thirty-one locals, including several named walkers, can choose distances from 5K to a full marathon or participate virtually, with registration discounts and volunteer opportunities still available.
   

• RMHS High Five – Sophia Cesario Class of '27 (thereadingpost.com) — Reading Memorial High School is spotlighting senior Sophia Cesario through its long-running High Five Club, which honors students who strengthen the school community. Sophia is deeply involved in DECA, dance, student leadership, and service clubs, and she plans to study business in college after graduation, reflecting the kind of engagement many Reading families value.
