Reading man to be charged with murder in mother's death - Boston News, Weather, Sports (whdh.com) — A 22-year-old Reading man is facing a murder charge in the shooting death of his mother at their Center Avenue home, after being arrested in Vermont and awaiting extradition to Massachusetts. Local police and the Middlesex District Attorney say he will be arraigned in Woburn District Court, and the investigation into the killing in Reading is ongoing.

2. Murder warrant issued in Reading (newportdispatch.com) — Authorities have issued a murder warrant for 22-year-old Ryan Hanafin of Reading in the fatal shooting of 49-year-old Andria Hanafin inside a Center Avenue home. Reading police, state police, and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office say Hanafin was later found in Vermont and is awaiting return to Massachusetts for arraignment in Woburn District Court.

The first step in Greater Lowell's run to a D3 cross-country title last year was believing it could (bostonglobe.com) — Reading High's boys cross-country team is quietly building toward another strong postseason, returning five of seven top runners from last year's Division 1C runner-up finish. Coach Michael Connelly says the Rockets are pacing themselves through a 2-2 start, focusing on health, depth, and discipline ahead of key championship meets like the upcoming MSTCA Twilight Invitational.

4. Obituary: Roger J. D'Entremont, 94 (thereadingpost.com) — Longtime Reading resident and Reading High graduate Roger J. D'Entremont, 94, has died, leaving a large local family and a legacy of distinguished military and aviation service. Calling hours are Tuesday, October 13, in North Reading, with a funeral Mass Wednesday, October 14, at St. Athanasius Church in Reading and burial with military honors in Wakefield.
