MOONSTRUCK THEATER COMPANY, in association with Amazing Things Art Center of Framingham, is pleased to present the classic American play OUR TOWN, opening Friday, March 14, and running for seven performances through Sunday, March 23.
This Pulitzer Prize-winning play is Thornton Wilder’s most frequently performed work. Set in the early 20th century in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, the play explores the beauty of love, marriage, family and the everyday precious moments that may be taken for granted. Our Town, known for its minimalistic use of set and props, has the Stage Manager narrate the love story of George Gibbs and Emily Webb. As the couple moves through life we are reminded of how important it is to stop and take time to appreciate the significance in the simplest of moments.
The production features 14 performers from the Boston and MetroWest regions, including Maureen Hughes of Roslindale as Mrs. Webb, Emily’s tender but no nonsense mother. “When I saw the audition posted for Our Town, I knew right away that I wanted to be a part of this production. It is a very relatable play,” says Hughes. “I grew up in a small town in the South; the day-to-day activities described in Grover's Corners remind me of the stories I've heard from my grandmother about her home town in southern Mississippi.”

Having studied theater since high school, Hughes most fondly recalls playing the role of Penelope Toop in See How They Run. Maureen works for Rafanelli Events Management as an Accounting Clerk.
The show is produced by Caroline Fonseca and directed by Matthew Sherman. The production will be presented at Amazing Things Art Center, Framingham, MA.
