This was in the Salem News yesterday (Peabody)
A man called police at 4:51 p.m. to report that his neighbor walks her dog up and down his property and lets the dog urinate on his lawn. Officers advised the caller that there is no law against dogs urinating on lawns.
Is it really legal for someone to be on your property without permission? Wouldn't this be trespassing ? I see people here allowing their dogs to pee on other people's flowers, lawns and shrubs and when someone did it repeatedly on my lawn I put up a fence. In NY, even before the pooper scooper law passed, the law was "curb your dog". We walked the dog along the curb and tried to have it go in the street. Of course it's not always possible and accidents happen but I see people here walking into driveways with their dogs. I see brown spots on lawns and dead plants from the urine. What exactly is the law? Does a home owner truly have no legal right to ask someone not to walk their dog on their property?
