Letter To The Editor: Patch Coverage Of Shelter Is Harmful

A Salem resident says Patch's coverage of problems at the Northeast Animal Shelter could damage the nonprofit.

I am writing to express my anger and disappointment in Salem Patch for their decision to cover the Northeast Animal Shelter with such negativity. Every organization has disgruntled employees who leave and spread their stories of discontent about their former employer. Patch’s decision to assume their story as an inflammatory news series that could damage the shelter so negatively is irresponsible and cruel. Countless animals and humans have been helped by the shelter over the years.

The reputation of the organization and the employees and volunteers who work selflessly is being damaged by the "news" that you are choosing to publish. This is "journalism" at it’s very lowest point. I sincerely hope that Salem Patch reconsiders it’s coverage of the shelter so I can continue to count on you as a source of news and information. At this time you have lost all credibility with me as a reader.

Sincerely,
