Police: Spree of Rocks Thrown Through Windows; Man Talking Out Loud and Pacing on Train Platform Tells Officers He Had a Really Bad Day; Rusty Sword Found

Tuesday, April 14
At 6:06 p.m., activity on baseball field on Clifton Avenue. Small group of youths were leaving as officer arrived. Field not yet opened for the season.
At 6:27 p.m., landlord/tenant dispute on Gallows Circle.

At 6:47 p.m., assault on Hershey Street. Reporting party came into the station to report that he was assaulted by his boss. He showed a fresh scratch to his left finger. Reporting party works as a taxicab driver and the dispute was over the ownership of a motor vehicle. Officer advised reporting party that he would have to go to civil court to take up the vehicle ownership issue, and would have to go to Salem District Court if he wanted to pursue an assault charge.
At 6:57 p.m., larceny from motor vehicle on Essex Street. Reporting party stated that someone stole a wallet from his work truck. He said he received a call from his bank relaying that they had received a message from Salem Police that several of his cards were found.

At 8:00 p.m., malicious destruction of property over $250 on Lynde Street. Damage to vehicle window. Woman reported that she parked on Lynde Street. A witness told her when she came downstairs that a rock was thrown through the rear window. One witness told an officer that she observed a vehicle throw a rock through her window, shattering it.
At 8:45 p.m., malicious destruction of property over $250 on Parlee Street. Youths throwing rocks at cars. Witness told officer that he was in the backyard when he thought he heard a car crash. He walked in front of his house and and saw a car slowly approach and saw the driver throw two rocks at a nearby parked vehicle. The rocks did not break a window.

Wednesday, April 15
At 1:22 a.m., lost wallet on Lynch Street. Reporting party was walking with friends by the Salem Depot and he believes he lost his black velcro wallet with silver on the border in that general area.
At 6:36 a.m., malicious destruction of property over $250 on Cauldron Court. Woman reported that the back window of her car was smashed and a rock was on the ground. Nothing missing from the vehicle.
At 6:45 a.m., hazard m Highland Avenue. Turkeys in the roadway impeding traffic.
At 9:21 a.m., ,malicious destruction of property $250 or less on Goodhue Street. Rock thrown through the driver’s side window sometime overnight..
At 9:23 a.m., malicious destruction of property over $250. Rock thrown through the front windshield of a mini-van window parked on Hartford Street. Peabody Police has a similar incident overnight.
At 9:34 a.m., rusty sword found on Mason Street and Grove Street. A small, rusty sword was found in the woods alongside Mason Street by workers in the area.
At 11:23 a.m., fraud reported on Sutton Terrace. Female reported that someone had hacked into her computer and sent out emails to her friends asking for money. The email said that she was on vacation and needed money. Officer advised her to advise her friends that it was a scam.
At 11:33 a.m., suspicious person on MBTA train platform on Bridge Street. Officers received reports of an aggressive man on the train platform. The man was talking to himself loudly and pacing back-and-forth. The man told officers he was having a really bad day. Officers advised him that he was making people nervous. The man decided to walk home.
