Salem Animal Shelter Brings In More Hurricane Ida Rescue Cats
The Northeast Animal Shelter said the cats left Louisiana on Saturday - bringing the total to more than 200 rescued since the storm.

SALEM, MA — The Northeast Animal Shelter of Salem brought dozens of more cats north from storm-ravaged Louisiana this weekend as the shelter seeks to find forever homes for pets dislodged amid Hurricane Ida and its aftermath.
The shelter said the cats were to depart from the New Orleans area Saturday morning and arrive in New England later that day. The latest cats bring the total to more than 200 the shelter has brought north for adoption since the late-August storm.
The work to relocate the pets is part of the partnership between Northeast and MSPCA-Angell Memorial that also brought up 36 dogs from overcrowded shelters ahead of the storm and had earlier in the month transported 100 cats and elderly dogs from a shelter in a different part of The Pelican State.

The MSPCA and NEAS are seeing to the cats' needs and will address any health issues that arise before they are placed in new and loving homes. Anyone interested in adopting can visit here for information about the adoption process.
