Alleged Drunk Driver Charged With Child Endangerment After Hitting Pole With 3-Year-Old in Car
An Oxford man is facing charges after he hit a utility pole, injuring himself and his child, on Easter Sunday.
SHREWSBURY, MA — An Oxford man is facing several charges after police say he drove under the influence, hitting a pole and injuring himself and his three-year-old child on Sunday.
Manuel A. Figueroa, 36, from North Oxford, was charged with OUI Liquor, Child Endangerment while OUI, Negligent Operation, Speeding, Marked Lanes Violation, Failure To Wear Seatbel and Child Restraint Violation.
Police, fire and UMass EMS responded around 6:35 p.m. to 11-13 Edgemere Boulevard, where a car had crashed into a utility pole. Two occupants - the driver and his three-year-old child - were trapped inside and had to be extricated from the car. Both were injured and brought to UMass Memorial Medical Center.

Police said Figueroa drove his 1989 Nissan 240SX north on Edgemere Boulevard, speeding, and lost control, crashing into the utility pole.
Figueroa will be arraigned for his charges at Westborough District Court at a later date. The accident remains under investigation.
