Letter To the Editor In Support of Anand Sharma for Fiscal Responsibility

To the Editor,

I believe Sharma on Shrewsbury's Select Board would provide the Responsible Leadership and Fiscal Conservative the town needs

I am writing to support the election of Anand Sharma. He has placed the issues of Shrewsbury's growth and infrastructure at the center of his campaign. I believe he is best suited to ensure Shrewsbury has responsible development, environmental protection, and fiscal responsibility.

I first became aware of Sharma when I saw him raise concerns about the MBTA Community Zoning Plan. He has spoken in town halls about the propsal reduces affordable housing opportunites. He has also backed a temporary zoning moratorium to evaluate developmental impacts for better community needs. I am disappointed in being unable to tell people Shrewsbury is an affordable place to live and believe Sharma will help change that.

Shrewsbury, by extension, has become much more expensive to live in. Shrewsbury must grow its local economy in attainable ways and use a sustainable budget. I am deeply disappointed in the Beal Deal decision, allowing development in an already traffic congestion area with a low population density. And I am happy to see Sharma speak against these issues. For this, I believe Sharma will provide good city planning for Shrewsbury.

Sharma displays many of the same great characteristics for a leader as the Garcia and Casavant. He is open to criticism, eager to listen to feedback, and is happy to work with constituents. He has promoted similiar town transparency measures as his opponents. However he has put the town's issues front and center, and I believe that makes him the most qualified to help lead our Shrewsbury.

Your vote really does matter for these town elections. Worcester, at least for the past decade, has had under a 20% voting population in their municipal election. If you feel so strongly, please vote.

And I hope you can join me in voting for Anand Sharma for select board in May.
