Shrewsbury Road Crews Repaired Potholes, Laid 100 Tons Of Asphalt This Spring
Shrewsbury highway crews have completed hundreds of road repair jobs this spring.
SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury highway crews have completed hundreds of road repair jobs this spring as the town prepares for more paving, sidewalk and infrastructure work in June and July.
Town Manager Kevin Mizikar gave the Select Board an update this week on road repairs being handled by the Highway Division, including pothole maintenance, asphalt work, sidewalk repairs and other public works projects.
So far, crews have laid 100.24 tons of asphalt and completed 277 pothole and delamination work orders, according to the town update. About 50 tons of asphalt were used on South Quinsigamond Avenue alone.

Major asphalt work has been completed along Oak Street from Route 9 to Maple Avenue, Walnut Street from Route 9 to the Main Street circle and portions of Sewall and Holden streets. Crews also addressed major potholes along the section of West Main Street closer to the Worcester line.
Other completed projects include repairs to plow damage in residential grass areas, work on the Parker Road/Oregon Avenue head wall, concrete pad and mailbox pedestal installations and overgrowth removal at the police department boat house, which is about 75 percent complete.

More work is planned in June and July. The town said high-priority defects on Gulf Street have been addressed, but delamination repairs are still scheduled.
Crews are also expected to remove and replace 332 feet of sidewalk on Dewey Road and 100 feet on Hunting Street. Other upcoming work includes finishing the sweeping program, mapping areas of responsibility, addressing overgrowth, managing berm and sidewalk repairs, repairing catch basins and maintaining culverts.
