Assembly Row Gets First Retailer Of Next Development Phase

Mike's Pastry ushered in the second phase of Assembly's development last month, and new shops will pop up throughout the year.

SOMERVILLE, MA – Ann Taylor Factory opened at Assembly Row Wednesday, the first retailer to do so as part of the Row's next phase of development. Mike's Pastry, which opened in April, ushered in Phase 2 at the Row, and new shops will pop up on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Ann Taylor Factory is located at 441 Assembly Row and began taking customers Wednesday at 10 a.m. The retail chain offers a wide selection of women's clothing, including skirts, suits, blouses, sweaters, shoes, shorts and outfits for special occasions.

Several retail outlets are expected to follow Ann Taylor Factory's lead this year. Columbia, Yankee Candle and The Fragrance have all been announced as upcoming additions to Assembly Row. The waterfront development will see more than 20 restaurants and retailers, two new apartment complexes and a luxury hotel open in 2017.

"Whether people are coming here to shop, eat or be entertained, whether to live or to work, they tell us how they discover something new each time they visit," Matt Ehrie, vice president and general manager of Assembly Row, said about the expansion earlier this year. "We’re excited to begin unveiling the second phase, which will provide even more options for our residents, office employees and visitors."
