Home Movie Day

Celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, Home Movie Day is a worldwide event that invites you to see and share your own home movies with an audience of your community. It's also a chance to discover why it's important to care about home movies and how to care for these precious films.

Bring your super 8, 8mm, and 16mm films to screen or just come to behold the vast array of fascinating amateur movies! Film archivists inspect films for damage and professional projectionists screen them in pristine cinema conditions with or without a musical soundtrack of your choosing. Audio, VHS, DVD and other digital formats also welcome - please cue ahead of time and limit video clips to 5 minutes.

Each film must be inspected for damage before being run on a projector, so please drop off your film as early as you can. If possible, deliver your reels to Somerville Community Access Television offices or the Harvard Film Archive programming office (24 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA 02138) the week prior to the event. For more information about Home Movie Day and locations around the country, visit the Home Movie Day Website.
