Volunteering Training: Supporting Early Reading Skills

Volunteers, interested volunteers, parents and guardians are invited to a fun, informative and interactive evening to to support and improve early reading skills.
This training offers strategies for how we can boost literacy whether through classroom volunteering, after school 1:1 tutoring, or at-home activities; strategies for supporting and improving literacy among ESL students; and ways to motivate readers and emerging readers.

All participants will receive a resource packet, including literacy games.  Interpreters available for Spanish, Haitian Creole and Portuguese.  Free child care available.

In collaboration with Somerville Public Schools Educators, the Greater Boston Jewish Coalition for Literacy, and the Somerville Public Schools Volunteer Program.
