From Dave's Fresh Pasta:
The wine-making region of Beaujolais, in southeastern France, is home to the star red grape, Gamay. With Burgundy to the immediate north, a smaller amount of Beaujolais Blanc (chardonnay) is also produced here. Ten villages, known as crus, make the world's finest examples of Gamay wines. Try a Morgon, compare it to a Brouilly or Régnié. Delicate, fruity and nuanced with beautiful minerality, cru Beaujolais wines can be among the most versatile of food wines (and not to be confused with "Beaujolais Nouveau"). We will taste our way through these great, graceful, and often under-appreciated wines of Beaujolais, along with thoughtfully chosen food pairings.
