Everett Man Pleads Guilty To Rape Of Woman Found Hypothermic, In Coma
A 21-year-old man was sentenced for the 2015 assault of a young woman found motionless in a driveway with her pants pulled down.

EVERETT, MA – An Everett man pleaded guilty Friday to the 2015 rape of a young woman found comatose in a driveway. Sami Sherif, now 21, will serve a sentence of two years and nine months to three and a half years in state prison, the Middlesex District Attorney's office said.
Authorities said around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015, an Appleton Street resident left her home to go to work and saw the woman motionless in the driveway with her pants pulled down. The woman was frothing from her mouth, and there was blood on her and on the driveway, according to the DA.
She was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she remained unconscious and suffering from hypothermia. Half an hour after she was found, she had an internal body temperature of 77 degrees, a 0.237 blood alcohol level and was in a coma. She was given a 30 percent chance of survival but ultimately regained consciousness and was treated, the DA's office said.

Investigators determined that the woman had been at a party involving underage drinking the previous night on Waters Street in Everett. Police had broken it up around midnight, and she was last seen leaving the party with Sherif. That night the temperature was 18 degrees with a wind chill of 6-8 degrees, according to the DA.
Sherif returned alone to the Waters Street house and bragged to a few people about having had sex with the woman, the DA's office said. When confronted by investigators, he initially denied any sexual contact but eventually claimed they had consensual sex in the driveway where she was found.

He told police he was doing her a favor by walking her home because everyone had left her. Sherif acknowledged she was highly intoxicated but claimed he knew she wanted to have sex because of "the way she looked at him," according to the district attorney.
He claimed that afterward he could not lift or carry her anymore so he left her there.
The DA's office said forensics from the sexual assault kit performed on the victim linked Sherif to her assault. He was arrested on March 27, 2015.
