Fermentation 101

Join us at Mudflat Pottery School for this 3-part fermentation workshop where students make a clay crock!

In this 3 part workshop, local potter and fermenter Jeremy Ogusky will teach all the ins and outs of fermentation crocks and fermented foods. In Part 1, participants will make a ceramic fermentation crock. Jeremy will discuss the connection between ceramics and fermentation and then instruct students on vessel design elements that are essential for fermentation. Part 2 will get everyone started on fermenting food in the crocks that were made in part 1. Students will learn about the basics of lacto-fermentation and go home with a crock of bubbling fermenting food. Part 3 will be a community fermentation potluck meal. All participants will bring the fermented dishes they prepared as we share a group meal. Please visit http://mudflat.org/classes/ogusky.htm for more information or call 617-628-0589 to register.

Tuition: $320.00, members $160 ( Please note: price includes all 3 parts)

Part 2: Friday, October 30, 6:30-9:30 pm
Part 3: Friday, November 20, 6:30-9:30 pm
