Fistfight Draws Crowd at Fourth of July Celebration

Somerville police had to pull a man and woman apart to stop them from fighting July 2.

A man and woman’s altercation had onlookers at Somerville’s Independence Day celebration paying attention to the fireworks on the ground and not in the sky.

Tony Bell, of Malden, and Wendy Breen, of Somerville, were charged with fighting in public after having a heated argument the night of July 2, according to a Wicked Local report. The two were walking on Broadway toward Medford Street at about 8:23 p.m. when the dispute started, the report stated.

The fight started with finger-pointing and escalated to punching before Somerville police pulled them apart, the report added. The altercation caught the attention of the crowd and even stopped traffic, the report stated.
