Back to School time is the perfect time to learn something new. Boston Bead Company, now located at 75 Holland Street in Davis Square regularly offers a series of Basic Technique Classes to help you learn to bead. Please follow the links below to learn more and to register online.

Stringing Techniques is our most popular class! The focus of this class is to teach our students about the beads, jewelry-making findings, beading tools, and stringing materials, and to provide time to practice the basic techniques used in making a range of strung jewelry styles.

Wire Work Techniques is an introduction to the tools and materials used to make wire jewelry. The focus of the class is to learn about the extensive range of wires, wire working tools and to practice the essential basic techniques. You will learn the simple loop, the wire wrapped loop, and the basics of earring construction.

Macrame Techniques is fun and easy. Explore a brief history of macrame, learn about cords and finishing techniques. You will will practice three basic macrame knotting techniques and make a simple bracelet with a special slide knot closure to take home.

Knotting Techniques are used to protect delicate beads, and prevent the loss of beads should the strand ever break. The focus of this class is to learn about the range of materials and knotting tools that can be used to knot between beads. Several basic knotting techniques will be practiced.
