Man Allegedly Steals Dead Woman's Phone After She's Hit by Train
The brazen theft occurred Thursday night at Boston's Downtown Crossing Station.

A 26-year-old Brockton man allegedly pocketed a dead woman’s phone after she was hit by a train Thursday night at Boston’s Downtown Crossing Station.

The man turned himself in to MBTA Transit Police Friday night after police released photos of him in the act earlier in the day. Police said he will be arraigned Monday in Boston Municipal Court on a larceny charge. Police have not released his name.

According to police, the woman’s phone became dislodged when she was hit by the Red Line train and landed on the subway platform. In surveillance footage, the man can be seen stepping on the phone to conceal it. He then looks around to see if anyone is watching, pockets the phone and casually walks away, police said.
No foul play is suspected in the woman’s death.
